A Modern Retreat in the Heart of Texas

Welcome to The Leona, a design-forward cabin retreat nestled in Lockhart, Texas—just 25 miles from Austin, 65 from San Antonio, and an easy weekend escape from Dallas. Located within the emerging Main Springs micro-district, The Leona offers a new kind of hospitality: one that blends boutique-style accommodations with the charm and character of a close-knit community.

Our four sustainably built cabins contain eight private guest suites—each one thoughtfully designed in collaboration with renowned Texas architecture firm Lake|Flato and interior designer Sarah Stacey. These spaces are a celebration of contrast: antique meets modern, comfort meets character, nature meets thoughtful design.

Inside, guests will find curated comforts: soaking tubs or walk-in showers, king beds, full kitchenettes, and private porches that frame the natural landscape. It’s everything you need to reset and reconnect—whether you’re here for a quiet couple of days or a longer creative retreat.

Step outside your cabin and you’ll find more than just a porch with a view. These south-facing outdoor spaces overlook the creek and native landscape, making them the perfect spot for a slow morning coffee or a golden-hour wind down.

Our communal pavilion, anchored by dual corten steel Santa Maria grills and a gas fireplace, is where guests often gather to share meals, stories, or simply the joy of a crackling fire.

Where Design Meets Intention.

“Our vision for the future of this land was to create meaningful experiences and moments for our guests to escape for a quick weekend stay, or a longer sabbatical retreat. “

Built sustainably, with purpose.

Thoughtful Site Design

The Leona was thoughtfully designed to honor its land, formerly a cement batch plant, by transforming it into a space of renewal, creativity, and connection. Every element reflects a commitment to sustainability: native landscaping supports biodiversity, while the cabins’ low-impact footprint preserves the natural terrain.

The property integrates with the Leona aquifer and adjacent waterfall, celebrating local water ecology while promoting responsible use.

At The Leona, intentional architecture and environmental stewardship come together to create a meaningful, grounded experience for guests and the community.

Green Cleaning

For us, sustainability extends beyond design. Instead, it’s part of the daily rhythm. All cleaning practices on site use eco-friendly, non-toxic products that are safe for both guests and the environment. These green alternatives reduce harmful chemical runoff, improve indoor air quality, and support a healthier stay.

From guest cabins to shared spaces, every surface is cleaned with biodegradable options that meet high standards of cleanliness with compromising on care.

It’s a small but meaningful way The Leona helps protect the surrounding ecosystem while giving you peace of mind that your retreat is both restful and responsibly maintained.

Local Artisanship

The Leona was built in collaboration with local craftspeople and family-owned businesses across Central Texas, ensuring every detail, from custom furniture to hand-thrown ceramics, reflects the region’s talent and spirit.

By sourcing materials and artistry locally, The Leona minimizes transportation impact and supports a more sustainable, circular economy. It’s not about aesthetics; it’s a commitment to place.

Every design choice honors the belief that hospitality should nurture its environment, both culturally and ecologically, creating a space that feels deeply rooted and intentionally crafted.

The Leona is part of a larger vision to thoughtfully transform this historic plot of land into a vibrant community hub. Often known as the Barbecue Capital of Texas, Lockhart is far more than its food scene. It’s a town that blends small-town ease with creative energy. Here, vintage shops and First Friday art walks live alongside craft cocktails, live music, and late-night conversations under string lights. Lockhart’s downtown square is historic and welcoming, its people warm and forward-thinking.

Our micro-district, Main Springs, will eventually include locally owned restaurants and bars, as well as curated retail offerings. Pedestrian-friendly pathways and gathering spaces are already taking shape—and even as the area evolves, guests can enjoy a peaceful, design-rich stay with plenty of thoughtful details to discover.

Whether you're sipping ranch water beside the fire, stretching out under a shady porch, or heading into town for barbecue and live music, we’ve designed The Leona to be your sanctuary. A space for rest, celebration, creativity—and connection.

Come stay awhile. Let the land slow you down, and the details pull you in.
